How to make Steam ilish at Home

  • 200 gm Ilish fish
  • 20 ml Mustard Oil
  • 10 gm Mustard Seed
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seed
  • 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 6 pcs Garlic
  • 5 gm green chili
  • 2 tsp Coconut Grated
  • Salt as required


  • Cut the fish in Slice
  • Put garlic, green chili, mustard seed, cumin seed and coconut in a mixer jar & make a paste
  • Apply some salt on the fish, then add turmeric powder, mustard oil & our prepared paste.
  • Marinate it well & leave it for some time
  • Take a big banana leaf, put all the marinated fish into it & seal it from every side
  • Then Put it Into the steam pot & steam it for half an hour.
  • That's it !!!!!!


Your steam ilish fish is ready to eat. Serve it with rice & Enjoy your food.
