History of Maa Tarini at Ghatagaon

Long ago, the people in Keonjhar believed that their King was taking Tarini Maa from Puri to Keonjhar. The King had to keep moving forward without looking back, or else Tarini Maa would stop following him. The King rode on a horse while the Goddess followed him. He could hear the sound of her ornaments, but when they reached Ghatagaon in the forest, the sound suddenly stopped. The King turned around, thinking Tarini Maa had stopped following him, but she was still coming. Due to the condition, Maa Tarini stayed there and worshiped as the queen of the Forest.
