Dum Aloo Masala

The dish known as Dum Aloo Masala is a popular Indian curry made with baby potatoes cooked in a rich and flavorful gravy

  • 450 gm Potato small
  • 1 nos Onion
  • 4 tbsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Chili Powder
  • ½ tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 2 tsp Ginger-Garlic Paste
  • ½ tsp Sugar
  • ¼ tsp Garam Masala
  • 150 ml Water
  • ½ bunch Coriander Leaf For Garnish
  • Salt as required


  • Scrub or peel the potatoes and cut them into even-sized pieces.
  • Boil them until just tender.
  • Grind the onion to a fine paste.
  • Heat the oil in a pan,
  • Add the onion paste and fry until lightly browned.
  • Then add chili powder,turmeric powder,ginger paste,sugar and salt.
  • Fry for 1-2 minutes without letting the mixture burn, Then add water.
  • When the water begins to simmer,stir in the potatoes.
  • Cover and cook until the sauce has thickened.
  • Sprinkle with the garam masala and remove from the stove.


Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.
