Overview of Anandabana in Bhubaneswar

Anandabana used to be empty, but now it’s full of life with lots of plants, trees, water, and animals. People call it the ‘Nest of Happiness’ because it’s a big green area in the city where you can walk, bike, enjoy nature, do yoga, or just relax. The place has changed a lot and is now a beautiful sanctuary where you can see lush greenery and peaceful water bodies. It’s a great spot to explore nature trails and find some tranquillity in the city. Anandabana is a wonderful place to visit if you want to be surrounded by nature and enjoy the calm atmosphere. It’s a big green space in the city that offers a lot of activities like walking, cycling, and meditating.

The area covers 89.5 acres and is home to many different types of plants and animals. There are about 40-50 different types of native plants, over 10 types of birds that migrate, 15 or more types of butterflies, and 5 or more types of reptiles. There are trails for jogging, biking, and walking that cover a total of 4.7km and go through different types of landscapes. The area also helps the environment by storing 500 tons of carbon each year. It supports different ecosystems like grasslands and ponds. Additionally, it helps with the climate by allowing water to soak into the ground and reducing temperatures by up to 5 degrees.

Anandabana has so many different activities and events that you can participate in, just like the diverse city it’s located in. 1. Enjoy a 1.35 km journey through forest patches connected by a footbridge, surrounded by the peaceful sounds of birds and rustling leaves.

2. Ride along a 3.83 km bicycle trail through nature, ideal for fitness enthusiasts and nature lovers.

3. Reconnect with the earth on a 1-kilometer soil trail for a grounding experience.

4. Embark on a 550-meter rock trail for an adventurous off-road experience that stimulates acupoints for physical and mental wellness.

5. In the Anandabana, there are grass mounds that you can find all around. They are perfect for taking a break and appreciating the beautiful nature.

6. If you want to do yoga in a peaceful place, the Natural Yoga Ground is the spot for you. The sounds of nature will make your yoga practice even more relaxing and help you feel good both mentally and physically.

7. If you need a quiet place to relax and enjoy the forest atmosphere, the Gazebo is the perfect retreat for you. Take a rest and soak in the peacefulness of the surroundings.

8. At the Interpretation Center, you can learn about the environment in a fun and interactive way. It’s especially great for young explorers and plant enthusiasts who want to expand their knowledge.

Times to visit

– From February 1st to October 31st, the opening hours are from 5:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

– From November 1st to January 31st, the opening hours are from 5:30 AM to 5:30 PM.

– The daily maintenance closure is from 11:00 AM to 03:00 PM.

One Day: ₹ 5 per person

Monthly Pass: ₹ 100 per person

Half Yearly Pass: ₹ 500 per person

Yearly Pass: ₹ 1000 per person
